I am an ecologist with broad research interests in freshwater community and macroecology, global change biology, and biodiversity conservation. My lab takes a quantitative approach to develop empirical insights and predictions from remote sensing and field observations, large data syntheses, and theory-driven, field-based experiments. We study a range of organisms (from algae to fish) to test key processes and dynamics of aquatic ecosystems, with a focus on how lake and pond communities respond to multiple environmental stressors. Our work is both fundamental and applied, as we seek to understand the drivers of species diversity patterns and their implications for healthy ecosystem functioning.
